| What was the most important thing that happened to us in 2001? This year
it was an easy question to answer. On October 19th our baby boy was born.
He was three weeks early, 2.6 kg heavy and of course the most adorable
ever. The boy has everything but a name. By law we have to give him a name
before January 19th, and we are in the middle of some tough negotiations.
The first half of the year we were still in Buffalo, NY, which makes our
son "made in USA", and the belly was called Buffalo Bill.
Pcking everything together in Buffalo was not as easy as we thought. During the last week we had to get rid of all our stuff and say goodbye to everybody. Our terrific friends organized a fabulous fare well party for us with food, drinks, music and a hugh bon fire. With enough gasoline anything will burn... Not even rain stopped Carl and Paul from trying to barbacue the nearby trees. The last days of our stay we sold the TV for a hair cut and Cacke sold the car for $750. The decision to send things home by UPS was made at the airport when we realised that they wanted $1100 to fly our luggage home. Kersti getting stuck with tape in her hair while trying to repack was stuff was only making the decicion easier. We had a wonderful year in Buffalo and we really miss all the friends we made. Hopefully we will get a lot of visitors in the not too far away future.
We were taking it quite easy during the summer and the fall. We were just doing some small things lika painting windows, painting a couple of rooms, building a nursing table and half a crocodile, changing all the electric wires in the house and buying a new (used) car. Working in the garden was not much use as we installed a geothermal heating system late fall.
To do that we had to bury 550 yards of pipes in our garden, something which required three bob-cats for a week. Theoretically the house is now supposed to be warm for almost no money at all. So far it has been very cheap, but not very warm.... Kersti & Cacke Last update: Jan 7, 2002 |
