As usual our lives are really god. The children grow like weeds and we are renovating our house. The only strange thing is that we don’t have any toddlers around any more, but rather pretty reasonable, thinking, almost grown children. Axel tells Kersti every now and then that he is almost as tall as she is, but that is not really true.

This year we made a fantastic trip to Hungary in April. The most adventuresome part of it all was the flight from Malmö to Budapest. The children had eyes the size of saucers, and they were very excited during the entire flight. Even the little packages with drinks and snacks were an exciting experience.  We went by car from Budapest to the Bükk mountains, and then through Visegrad to the south end of the Balaton lake. Hungary is a really good country to visit with children. Every mountain peak has an old castle and all large hotels have spa and swimming pools where children are welcome. The children actually also learned how to play chess, and they still like doing it. All hotel buffets contained chicken or sausage, and everybody just smiled when the children felt like home. After five days at the castle hotel Palota Axel even asked when we were leaving, as he wanted to have breakfast without any chocolate.

Our summer was really nice. We had a huge midsummer party to celebrate ten years of marriage. It was so much fun that we decided to have 10-year-anniversaries more often. Even Cacke, who managed to rip his Achilles tendon during the party, enjoyed himself. It’s a good thing that there were medical doctors present at the party. The rest of the summer Cacke did not walk very fast, but he was persistent and we made a really nice summer trip through Sweden. After the trip to Hungary the children were quite spoiled with god hotels. There has to be at least a swimming pool, otherwise it is a bad hotel. We visited Kolmården, which is huge zoo with a fantastic dolphin show and camel riding.

Axel and Johan are now fans of Indiana Jones, as he is available in Lego. Kersti got the three first IJ-movies for her birthday, and after strict censur the children have been allowed to watch parts of them. When IJ number four came to the movies, the children ordered us to get a babysitter and go watch the movies. Then we should tell them all about it. We were not difficult to persuade.

Axel has grown into a big guy. He seven years old and attends first class, learning how to read and write. He dreams of Lego and books about elves. This autumn we promised him a star wars wristwatch when he had learned the clock. It took him only two weeks to master.

Johan is still in the day care, but it is his last year there. He has learned to count to eleven in English. He loves seafood, especially “those big shrimps”, which are actually lobsters. He likes everything that is cool and goes crash bang, e.g. Transformers and motor bikes.

Kersti finally is a grown up. At last she thinks you have to be grown up when your PhD student got her degree. As the position at the university was a four-year position, Kersti is unemployed since the last of December 2008. Cacke, Axel and Johan all enjoy her being home, and would rather like her not to find any new employment.

Cacke spent the summer trying to pretend that he did not have a totally ripped off Achilles tendon. After a week of recovery he borrowed a Segway for transports, and after another couple of weeks he rode the bicycle to work although he had his foot in a plastic case.

Cacke also spent several summer evenings in the garden where he finished the dragon. He says that he quite enjoys having one dragon in the garden and one in the house. Cacke still works at Axis, and he has recently designed a camera with three mouse traps (Axis M3011).

This autumn we tried something totally new. We hired a painter! It was a very quick thing to have three small rooms painted and done. This might even be addictive...
