Newsletter 2021We are lucky enough to know many amazing and wonderful people. That means that we get to do a whole lot of nice and wonderful things. Unfortunately, it also means that every now and then we are left with gaping holes in our lives when a friend leaves for the great unknown adventure on a path where we cannot follow. Fond memories are of help when we are dealing with the sorrow, but they do not create themselves. Instead, we have again learned to take every chance to meet with our favorite people and to do our favorite things. During the pandemic, computers, i-pads, and telephones allowed us to see newly renovated kitchens, cute children, and proudly knitted pullovers, even if it is not possible to meet in person. Other ways of creating memories are to drink champagne with friends in the garden even if it rains, take long, cold walks, or have an outdoor fika. We have also had the great pleasure of having a homeless garage band playing in our attic. ![]() Our house needed tender love and care this year as well, which was no great surprise. In these old homes there is always something to fix. Cacke kept renovating the basement, and we have a brand-new geothermal pump for the heating system. It is much more efficient and provides much warmer hot water. Windows and doors were given a new coat of paint, and all windows got new window putty. For pandemic approved holidays, we have visited Kerstin’s and Carl-Eric’s summer house in Matvik several times. When the world opened up a little, we used the night train to visit Berlin. It is a very civilized mode of travel. We also took a quick tour to Hamburg to meet friends that we have missed for a long time. ![]()
In April, Axel moved to a student dorm, and since November he lives in a nice apartment. He enjoys life, his fellow students, cooking, studying, fireworks and student sororities. Even if he moved out, we see him quite often, especially when he needs tools from the basement. ![]() ![]() Adam bakes a lot and is getting really good at it. He is learning to become a software engineer and spends much time with his father in Gävle. ![]()
![]() Kersti enjoyed the autumn when everything opened up a little, and dance classes were permitted again. It was amazingly wonderful to be allowed to dance again. Traveling for work is happening again, and Kersti went to both Brussels and Milano. To avoid the typical lonely work travel, Cacke accompanied her in Brussels. We realized that Manneken Pis is very small. ![]() Working remotely worked fine for Cacke, who has been developing Axis products at home in the kitchen. A colander is perfect for radar experiments, and the sink was perfect for high voltage experiments... This year the Axis network camera celebrated 25-year anniversary. There was a great celebration with Cacke as guest of honor as he was the original development engineer in the project. The other person in the image is Martin Gren who was behind the launch of the first network camera, NetEye 200. Cacke has also been stand in head teacher for a dance class, and he did a splendid job. ![]() ![]() We have put much work into our New Year’s resolution to drink a lot of Champagne. A happy memory is when our friends helped us by joining a sparkling wine potluck. Unfortunately, it rained most of the time, and we spent the afternoon standing in the garage, watching the rain, and enjoying Champagne. With the very nice company and good snacks it ended up being a perfect afternoon.
